Whoever seeks excellence, he stays awake during (a good portion of) the nights.
Our special thanks and appreciation to all brothers and sisters who joined us for Eid prayers, and for breakfast and for the gift distribution to the children. Insha’Allah, we will see you all again soon. Also, we wish to express our heartiest gratitude and gratefully acknowledgement those who sent letters, faxes, e-mails, Eid cards, and called during this holy occasion. Thanks to those who informed us of the new moon (Hilal)/crescent of the month of Shawwal. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) reward them for the trust and their efforts, Ameen.
From all of us at Kufa Center Of Islamic Knowledge, As Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmalullahi Wa Barakatuhi. Eid Mubarak wa Kullum wa Antum Bikhair. Thank you brothers and sisters very much for all your kind greeting, comments, and well wishes on this occasion of Eid, and for your encouragement for us to continue publishing this newsletter. Jazakum Allahu Khairan. May Allah (Subhanu wa Ta'Aala) accept your fasts, prayers, generosity, efforts, and kindness during this past month of Ramadhan, and may He shower His blessings and Grace on you for the best of your deeds, and may He be well pleased with you and you with Him, Ameen. Salam with Dua’as to you and your families. O' Lord, bless us all at all times, reward us for our good actions, grant us our request from You and be merciful to us on the Day when You will provide the only shade, Ameen.
In Islam, all wealth and sovereignty belong to the Almighty Lord of the world. The Glorious Qur’an has emphasized in many verses that one cannot hope to gain spiritual perfection and the pleasure of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) unless one spends one’s wealth for the less fortunate in the community and for the religion. The Glorious Qur'an says: “A guidance and a mercy unto the righteous one. Those who establish prayer and pay the poor-rate, and they are certain, of the hereafter. These are on the guidance from their Lord, and these are they who are successful. And let not those with bounties among you swear against giving to their kindred, to the poor, and the emigrants in the way of Allah, and they should pardon and turn away (overlook); what! Love ye not that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, All-Merciful.” 32:3-5
Al-Hamdulillah, a (Mohsin) from Virginia denoted $3,500, of which $2,000 is earmarked for purchasing equipment and/or software that we’ve been seeking. Thank you brother very much for your kindness and Jazakum Allahu Khairan. This will ease the work for KCIK. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) bless all Muslims who work for Muslims and further benefit of mankind, and who spend in Allah’s way what He has graced them with, Ameen. O' Lord, record our good deeds and leave us delighted with what they have written down concerning them (good deeds), Ameen. The Glorious Qur'an says: “And Allah gave them the reward in this world and the excellent reward of the hereafter; Verily Allah loveth those who do good (to others).” 3:148
There are many brothers and sisters who continue their support, not only for the AL-KUFA Newsletter, but also for the overall program of KCIK. In addition, many brothers and sisters entrust their Zakat, Sadaqat, and other obligations to KCIK, for of the relief of the needy and the poor. A brother from New York sent $400 to KCIK program, (particularly for AL-KUFA Newsletter), and $400 for the poor and needy of the followers of Nabiy Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Waalihi Wasalam). This amount ($400) will be excluded from the Financial Report Summary and the Annual Financial Report for year 1999 and Insha’Allah, we will be able to distribute it without cost to the center. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) reward them for their good deeds for their kindness and may He protect them all, Ameen. O’ Lord, we seek from You succor, protection against straying, correctness of action and Your Assistance, Ameen. The Glorious Qur’an says: “Verily, I am with you; if ye keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and believe in My Nabiy and support them (with reverence) and lend unto Allah a goodly loan, I will certainly cause you to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow.” 5:12
There are brothers and sisters who have not yet become a part of this good cause, and we would encourage them to contribute, no matter how small or large in amount. Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) multiplies and amply rewards in both lives, Ameen. The Glorious Qur'an says: “Whoever intercedeth with a good intercession shall have a share therefrom.” 4:85
We still seek items such as a copy-machine, a typewriter (particularly, an Arabic typewriter) and/or laptop computer to be used for Arabic), audiocassette duplicator, a VCR, a video camera, paper shredder and software (computer CDs of the Qur’an, Hadith, Islamic encyclopedia and Arabic dictionary). Also, we received Windows 95 for Arabic and other programs, from the donation of one of brothers. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) reward him for his good deeds in this life and in the hereafter. O’ Lord, record for him his good deeds, Ameen. However, we need some technical support and assistance to make this program work. If any brother or sister who is familiar with such programs can offer advice, please contact the center and may Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) reward you for your efforts, Ameen. The Glorious Qur'an says: “I will not suffer the work of any of you that worketh to be lost, be he male or female, the one of you being from the other. Then he who hath done an atom-weight of good shall see It.” 3:195 & 99: 7-8
Nabiy Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Waalihi Wasalam) said: “Religion is sincerity. Whoever is anxious to (enter) paradise, he hastens doing good deeds.” The Glorious Qur’an says: “Verily the most honored of you with Allah is the one of you who guardeth (himself) the most (against evil), verily Allah is All-Knowing, the All-Aware.” 49:13 Jazakum Allahu Khairan. O' LORD, REWARD THOSE WHO ACT RIGHTEOUSLY WITH GOODNESS AND BLESS ALL MUSLIM, AND CONFER UPON THEM OF YOUR RECURRENT FAVORS, AMEEN.
A large number of requests, through phone calls, letters and in person, have been received from those who are interested in the AL-KUFA Newsletter, the Prayer Time-Table and also from those who filled the Free Subscription / Cancellation Form for the AL-KUFA Newsletter. If you receive more than one copy of this newsletter via a duplicate mailing, you can help us correct this by informing us and we thank you for that.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation are given to all of you. Because of the large numbers of letters that AL-KUFA has received, we will acknowledge and publish only some of these letters each time. Our purpose of publishing these letters is to (a) make a certain plea known to the public in order that they might respond for the pleasure of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala), (b) make us all aware of certain circumstances, or (c) to share a joyous news as well as to make Dua'as and Prayers for those who are ill or have lost a loved one, and also for the one they have lost. NOTE: For those who are interested in announcing the birth of a child, graduation, wedding, death, or matrimonial interests (should include a telephone number), please contact the Kufa Center of Islamic Knowledge. Those who send letters, please also provide the center with your telephone numbers. In addition, brothers and sisters who are requesting of us various Islamic materials, please provide us with a full name, postal address, telephone number, and e-mail address. If this is to be sent to an institution, please ensure that the institution will accept such material(s), even if it is just the AL-KUFA Newsletter. Please type your request(s) and sign the paper. Insha'Allah, we will continue sending this newsletter to whoever wishes to receive it. Also, we request readers to let us know their new addresses when they relocate. NOTE: We were unable to mail the Newsletter to most of our readers in the states of Texas and California as well as to our brothers and sister in prisons. Insha’Allah, we will able to do so in the future.
AL-KUFA received letters and e-mails:
Segments of a letter received from sister Atheer from a remote part
of the Middle East: Best greeting with Salam. It happened that a copy of
a very good and useful copy of the AL-KUFA News fell in my hands. I kindly
request you to send me a copy each month. All my respect and thanks to
you.
Thank you sister and may the Almighty Lord of the world bless and protect
you. Insha’Allah, we will continue sending you the newsletter.
Our thanks and appreciation to all brothers and sisters, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, who sent letters, faxes, e-mails, postcards, publications or phone calls, or came in person to the Kufa Center of Islamic Knowledge (KCIK), and for their support of the AL-KUFA Newsletter, the KUFA School, and the KUFA Public Library, from within the United States and abroad. The kind expressions of the readers, encouraging us to continue this Newsletter are especially appreciated. As for financial help, our thanks and appreciation to all brothers and sisters among our generous readers for their support. Please note: you may specify the purpose of your donations(s), unless you give us permission to use your donations(s) wherever they are needed most and where your donation(s) can most effectively assist, especially for the AL-KUFA Newsletter. All donation(s) and gifts are acknowledged with a tax-deductible receipt (unless otherwise requested) and we thank you for sharing your gifts from Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) with us. As the fruit of this mission begins to blossom. Insha'Allah, large numbers will receive the AL-KUFA Newsletter. The Glorious Qur’an says: “(Say): We feed you only for the pleasure of Allah; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks. And they spend (benevolently) of what We have provided them with, secretly and openly, and they repel evil with good; for these is the (happy) attainment of the (Eternal) abode.” 76:9 & 13:22
We are very grateful to all sources that sent us publications, their communications about Islam, Muslim community affairs, and educational articles, and to many individuals and institutions in the United States and abroad. Masha’Allah, these publications are all excellent and those who have borrowed them have enjoyed reading them. These publications are inventoried in the KUFA Public Library and some have been mailed to our brothers and sisters in the prisons and other places.
In addition, our thanks to all brothers and sisters who took the time to write or call KCIK and to inform us about the change of their addresses or their desire to receive the AL-KUFA Newsletter. REMEMBER, it costs us to distribute this newsletter to thousands of readers, and only a few continue their support of it. Please be aware of this and send your donations to cover the cost for mailing, etc., to AL-KUFA. Please also inform us of any change in address. When a newsletter is returned to us, it costs us up to $1.60 in some cases. This is a waste of resources. Please, let us avoid this loss.
Our thanks and appreciation to our brothers and sisters from Canada, Maryland, New York, Michigan, North Carolina, and Virginia who respectively donated $100; $50, $25 and $20 (for Zakat Al-Fitr); $200 (for Zakat Al-Fitr for the needy), $20 with stamps (and well-wishes for the month of Ramadan); $50 and $30; $100, $100 ($50 for AL-KUFA Newsletters and $50 for Zakat Al-Fitr), $72 ($60 for Zakat Al-Fitr and $12 Eid gifts for the children), $64 (Thanks for sending me the newsletter. I am sending our fitrana, please accept it.); $50, $50, $50 (Eid gifts for the children and $30 for Zakat Al-Fitr), $40 (for Zakat Al-Fitr), $30, $20 (for Zakat Al-Fitr), $20 (for Zakat Al-Fitr), $20 (for Zakat Al-Fitr), $20 (for Zakat Al-Fitr), $20 (for Zakat Al-Fitr), $10 (for Zakat Al-Fitr), and $5 (Continued success with the newsletter). Also, the center received from two organizations, A-HEWAR Center (Please accept this small contribution on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr), and World Islamic Service Mission Inc. donations of $20 and $10 respectively. The box for donation on the occasion of Eid collected $15. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) make the pure things of sustenance flow unto all, Ameen. The Glorious Qur’an says: “Verily, Verily, your guardian is (none else but) Allah and His Nabiy (Muhammad) and those who believe, those who establish prayer and pay the poor-rate, while they be (even) bowing down (in prayer). Whoever taketh Allah and His Apostle (Muhammad) as his guardian, and those who believe, verily, (he hath joined) Allah’s battalion; They are those that shall (always) be triumphant. And the believing men and women, they are guardians of one another; they enjoin good and forbid evil and they establish (the regular) prayer and pay the poor-rate and obey Allah and His Nabiy (Muhammad). Allah will bestow on them His mercy; Verily Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” 5:55-56 Blessings of Allah upon you all now and always. Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your donations and support. May the Almighty Lord reward all of you in this life and in the hereafter. The Glorious Qur’an says: “You will never attain piety unless you spend on others out of what you dearly cherish.” 3:92
Just remember that any money you pay to support KCIK, KUFA School, KUFA Public Library and AL-KUFA Newsletter is paid to strengthen the word of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) and for the sake of spreading Islam. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) bless you all, give you courage and provide you with resources to continue your support. The Glorious Qur’an says: “Say (O' Our Apostle Muhammad!)' If ye do love Allah, then follow me, and Allah will love you.” 3:30 Jazakum Allah Khair (MAY ALLAH REWARD YOU WITH GOODNESS).
The Kufa Center of Islamic Knowledge is entirely dependent on your financial contributions. The AL-KUFA Newsletter especially needs your support to cover its monthly costs. So, please share with us a fair contribution for this newsletter to enable it to continue. In addition, we receive a large number of requests for the AL-KUFA Newsletter. If you don't receive the AL-KUFA Newsletter, it is only because we don't have enough funds to cover the costs, especially for overseas shipping including Canada. [Note to our brothers and sisters in prison: please check with your institutions if you did receive the AL-KUFA Newsletter, and if you received it, then please share it with other brothers and/or sisters. We included the previous issues of the AL-KUFA Newsletter with our parcel to prison libraries. Those in any prison who haven’t received their packages including a copy of the Glorious Qur’an, please request your chaplain and/or any representative of that facility to contact the center, and Insha’Allah, we will be able to send it. Also, as part of Dawah program, brothers and sisters who would like to have someone visit them and/or call them on through the telephone for about 20 minutes to talk about Islam, please request the chaplain/officer of that institution to contact the KCIK. We can arrange for people to call specific individual, or group of Muslims over a speaker phone, at an appointed time to provide lessons or answer questions on Islam, Insha’Allah.
In addition, it is our responsibility to bring to your attention, our dear readers, that we are in desperate need for a place to teach and in need of resources {Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, and other Islamic books}. Islamic newsletters, Bulletin of Affiliation, Islamic magazines, newspapers and other Islamic materials were received from many Islamic institutions. Copies of Islamic books with English meaning, and Arabic Islamic books were received from the donation of the Islamic BookShop and an Islamic publication. Any donation (s) will aid us in our Dawah program as well as benefit the KUFA Public Library. Insha'Allah, many individuals and publishers will participate in this Dawah program. May Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) reward you for your efforts and enable you to do good deeds in this life and bless you and your family in this world and in the hereafter.
Students, teachers, faculty and others visited the center, many borrowed books, and students from high schools, colleges and universities asked questions related to their course work in Islamic studies. One brother from Virginia wrote,“Do you have books on Salat?” Yes, the KUFA Public Library received a new book on salat and also, there are several books including chapters on salat. Thank you brother for asking and we pray that may the Almighty Lord increase your knowledge as well as guide all of us to the right path, and may He also reward you for your good deeds, Ameen.
For the pleasure of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala), we therefore request you to assist us financially or materially in all of our programs. We particularly request you to bring this plea to the attention of your community, and encourage them to donate their Islamic charities to this cause. Jazakum Allah Khair (MAY ALLAH REWARD YOU WITH GOODNESS).
Islam regards marriage as securing a comfortable atmosphere for both
husband and wife. Every Muslim should marry when it is possible to do so.
The husband should accept the wife as his life-partner, and should respect
not only her individuality, but also her rights as laid down by the Shari'ah.
More important, the relationship between them should be based on love,
affection, and understanding.
Six weddings were held by KCIK in the previous months. Ali &
Marlene; Samed & Aven; Ahmad & Deborah; Firas & Wanda; Ashraf
& Lisa; and Jimi & Karla (who agreed that Jimi would teach Karla
the Opening of Glorious Qur'an: Surah, Al-Fatihat ). The KCIK and the AL-KUFA
Newsletter editors like to congratulate those couples and their families.
Also, we congratulate the weddings of Ali & Fadwa; Hussan & Ahalm;
Abdul Zahra & Nouhad; Luaay & Israa; Omar & Souad; Abbas &
Nagham; Haider & Baid'a; Omar & Asma; Babatu & Amina; and Hussain
& Suhad. O' LORD grant them happiness, and we pray they will
be faithful servants of His and will become an asset to the society, O'
LORD, ACCEPT THOU MY PRAYER, Ameen.

A genuine believer puts due effort in everything undertaken. Nabiy Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Waalihi Wa Salam) said: “One of the best deeds is to bring about happiness unto the believers; through settling their debts, fulfilling needs for them, and averting adversities from them.” The Glorious Qur’an says: “Verily believers are only those who when Allah is mentioned their hearts get thrilled, and when unto them are recited His signs they increase them in faith, and on Allah (alone) do they rely. Those who establish prayer and spend what Allah hath provided them. These, (and) they (only) are the believers in truth; for them are exalted grades with their Lord, and forgiveness and graceful sustenance.” 8:2-4
O’ Lord! Deal with me through Thy forgiveness and do not deal with me according to Thy retribution.
Nabiy Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Waalihi Wasalam) said: “A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the Creator.”
