The main purpose of a Center for Muslims, and all acts of worship performed in the domain of such place, is to cultivate sincerity. It is a place where we distinguish between obedience and disobedience, humility and pride. The object is nothing short of purity of worship, which demands a complete submission to Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala), and an unadulterated and uninterrupted detachment from all worldly cares and materialistic desires. The Glorious Qur’an says,“Verily, those who believe and do good deeds, it is they who are the best of creatures.” 98:7
Islam regards self-perfection and purification of the self in high esteem, and it encourages education and acquisition of knowledge for the sake of serving Muslims and benefiting mankind. The Glorious Qur’an says,“Help ye (one another) in righteousness and piety, and help ye not (one another) in sin and aggression and take ye shelter in Allah. Allah is severe in punishment.” 5:2
The Kufa Center of Islamic Knowledge (KCIK) is an Islamic international institution, established exclusively for religious, charitable, social, cultural, educational and scientific purposes. Its headquarters is in Roanoke, in the State of Virginia of the United State of America. It was officially established in April, 1994. With the grace of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala), considerable progress has been made in many activities, and it is hoped that this place will serve to propagate the Word of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) to many faithful Muslims. The Glorious Qur’an says,“Their intention is to extinguish Allah's light (by blowing) with their mouths. But Allah will complete His Light, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it).” 61:8
In the past, the Center has been operating out of the home of its founder, attempting to respond to increasing demand, and helping Muslims regain their losses and dignity through purification and learning. There are many members and/or readers, individuals and institutions that come forward to support KCIK, through various donations, publications, equipment, and software. This continued support will Insha’Allah ease the work for KCIK and enable it to improve its programs and to service to the community and the world. Some of the services the Center offers are:
Monthly AL-KUFA Newsletter and Messages; KUFA School, Religious Education and Arabic Language School; KUFA Scholarship; KUFA Public Library; collecting religious dues and delivering them to the rightful recipients; distributing Islamic literature to seekers of knowledge and to Correctional Facilities at no charge; celebrations of births; wedding ceremonies; help in marriage counseling and divorce procedures; help resolving family and communal disputes; help performing ceremonial baths and funeral services for deceased Muslims; helping Muslim refugees; responding to religious questions over the phone, mail, internet and in person; and special religious ceremonies year round such as Eid-Al-Fitr and Eid-Al-Adha congregational prayers, and distribution of prayer time tables and calendars. These are no fees and/or charges required to participate in any of these activities, services and programs, for any Muslim or non-Muslim alike. Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) has described the true believers,“And prefer over their own selves, though their own lot be poverty.” 59:9
The objectives of KCIK are to have facilities which house the Mosque (a place of worship), school, library, ceremonial facilities, nursing home for elders, a conference room, playground, and halal food services. A sister wrote,“The Islamic centers or mosques are important is practicing Islam. Muslims gather in these places not only to perform prayers and break the fast, etc. but also to discuss their concerns. From the start, Nabiy Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Waalihi Wasalam) said encouraged Muslims to build places of worships. His intention was to have the Muslims get together to discuss problems they were facing from the Jahilia tribes, issues concerning them, how to raise families with Islamic ethics and knowledge, and so on. Muslims are encouraged to take their youngsters to these places to help then, relate to follow-Muslims and to learn how a Muslim practices his/her religion. Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) showers the Muslims who go to perform the salat there with His Mercy and peace. So mosques and Islamic centers are great places to raise families with Islamic knowledge and ethics, and to organize the

collective effort of Muslims.” The Glorious Qur’an says,"Only he maintains the House of Allah who believeth in Allah and the Last Day, and establishes prayer and giveth the poor-rate and feareth not (anyone) but Allah; so these, it may be that are of the rightly guided ones.” 9:18
It has become very difficult to continue expanding this service to Muslims without a Center. The Glorious Qur’an says,"And intend We to bestow (Our) favour upon those who were considered weak in the land, and to make them the (guides in faith), and to make them the heirs.” 28:5

There is a land close to the expressway in Roanoke. The size of it is one
acre with two buildings. The price is $375,000.00. Also, there are three tracts
of land in Roanoke 4, 3, and 35 acres, two of them at Interstate spur, and the
third one at the Interstate. The price is approximately $125,000.00, $95,000.00,
and $50,000.00/acre, respectively. All of these properties are visible from the
Interstate. Insha'Allah, our brothers and sisters will donate to establish our
Center at one of these sites. “It is they who are truly guided.” May Allah (Subhanahu
Wa Ta’Ala) bless our planning efforts with a successful outcome, Ameen. Nabiy
Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Waalihi Wasalam) said,“He who builds a mosque for
the sake of Allah, Allah will build a house for him in paradise."
For the Momineen and Mominaat who donated toward the purchase of land for the Center, and/or support the Center, may Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala) gift them houses in Heaven, Ameen. Insha’Allah, those who donated toward a place for Center, we will publish their donations in the future.
Today, it is necessary that the Muslims should have such a Center as a base for launching spiritual purification, education, and social progress. The Glorious Qur’an says,“He it is who hath sent His Nayib with the Guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may make it triumph over all the (other) religions, though averse may be the polytheists.” 61:9
